The Cocktail Smoothie

Hello!

Today I am sharing a super delicious smoothie, so delicious it even surprised me. When it comes to smoothies, I’m off and I’m on. Sometimes I love creamy, banana-filled concoctions and other times those make me feel sick. Lately I’m finding I’m loving a blend of peeled lemon, spinach, water and something else like blueberries. Lemons have always been one of my favourite fruits and I have been known to eat them whole. I don’t know what to say, I just love them. Like love them. And it’s not just the taste-they make me feel really good. I find that blend I just mentioned makes me feel so alert, it’s like coffee. That’s why I’ve added a whole lemon into this smoothie I’m recommending, and I encourage you to try it. Even if you’re not a huge lemon lover, there is enough fruit in there to disguise the taste so it isn’t overpowering but the perfect compliment.

So the lemon in this smoothie isn’t what surprised me. It’s the pineapple and the mango. See, I’m not a huge fan of those and yet I think they’re the tops in this smoothie. I’m shocked by how good they taste with just right amount of each. I know all you pineapple lovers out there must be thinking, girl, you’re a fool but that’s just me. It tastes so good I had to call this the cocktail smoothie because it tastes like a fabulous drink you order at the bar on Saturday night. In fact, if you’re in the mood add some vodka or tequila and make it a daiquiri/margarita!

Serves 1-2
Ingredients
1/2 cup water
1 lemon, peeled and seeds removed
1 orange, peeled
1/3 cup frozen mango chunks (you can up this to 1/2 cup if you love mangoes but you may need to add extra water to thin it)
1 heaping cup frozen pineapple chunks
1 cup fresh spinach (optional)
several dashes of ground turmeric (optional)
1-2 tablespoons chia seeds (optional)

Place all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. Serve right away or store in a sealed cup.

So good!

*If you are looking to boost the nutrition, add in the spinach and turmeric, including any protein powder or other healthy ingredients you love.

**Seeing as this is a cocktail smoothie, if you are entertaining or if it’s 5 o’clock somewhere add a little vodka to the mix!
